Fantasy Football: How Twitter Enriches the Fantasy...
Fantasy Football has brought NFL fans to a new level of sports fanaticism.  In contrast to the past, fans watch the games for more reasons than to see their favorite team.  The more important reason to watch now is for Fantasy Football users to watch the players on their own roster.  If their players don’t perform well, the user will not get points, which ultimately may result in the loss of money...

dkirkhoff: wick333: The part of your presentation that I thought was the most interesting was the blog created by the physical therapist.  It’s amazing that a medical professional would dedicate time to satisfy the interest of Fantasy Football enthusiasts.   At first glance it does seem like it is odd that a medical professional would spend so much time analyzing fantasy football...

A Customer Service Nightmare...Dana Boyd Article
What surprised me the most was how informal this piece of writing seemed to be.  Boyd used words such as “bitch”, “hipster”, “shit”, and “shitload” throughout her article.  This is one of the only articles we have read where such informal words where used.  In some ways I believe that I can better understand what she is saying when informal words are...

UCLA Internet Study
I found this article overall to be very interesting.  The author, Rachel Champeau, did a excellent job in describing the study and organizing the article.  However, I did come up with a few questions while reading.  First, why did the study only test subjects between the ages of 55 and 76?  I believe if they would have broaden the population of their study they could have found more interesting...

Why Abundance is Good: A Reply to Nicholas Carr
I agree with how the author established her argument in the beginning of the article.  I like how she gave many examples to counter Carr’s points.  An instance of this occurred in the second paragraph when the author was talking about Carr’s assertion that deep reading is indistinguishable from deep thinking.  The author then explained how “there are many people, from...

Tweeting Teens can Handle Public Life...?
There were things I both liked and disliked about this article.  I really liked how the second paragraph was constructed.   l liked how at the beginning of the paragraph the author started by clarifying the point that Twitter can be used in many different ways.  The author then continued to give examples on the different ways that Twitter can be used, which I thought helped the audience understand...

Define Gender Gap?
I believe that the number of contributors alone does not justify the argument that more women need to contribute.  It all depends on the substance or quality behind what people are writing or contributing.  For example, more men may be contributing, but in some cases those contributions will not have as much value as a single contribution by a woman.  This idea was not in the article, but I think...

Social Media's affect on communication
I didn’t get a chance to share my thought in class, but I believe that because people are constantly posting very short thoughts online it affects their ability to carry on a conversation.  On Facebook, Twitter, or just texting in general you do not have to respond immediately.  Therefore, people who constantly interact in those ways are not able to carry on a conversation as well because...
